Nurture
The aims of the Nurture Curriculum are to:
- Deliver a bespoke curriculum which meets the emotional and diagnostic needs of our Year 7 Dragons based on their Boxall Profiles.
- Provide teaching and learning experiences which compliment and support the mainstream learning in Year 7 History, Geography and Drama.
- Ensure that Year 7 Dragon’s have sufficient subject knowledge in all 3 areas of learning to enable them to transition comfortably into Year 8 mainstream lessons.
Students will be taught
- Personal, social and emotional skills in line with the outcomes of their Boxall Profile assessments
- Key skills from the Geography, History and Drama curriculum in agreement with the directors of learning for each subject
Students will have opportunities to
- Work with Year 7 students in mainstream to showcase their learning
- Present their learning to parents and families on a termly basis
- Work with outside agencies, where it is possible, to enable educational trips
In addition
- Students will be assessed in the same way as other students throughout the school with 3 assessment point in the academic year.
- Manageable homework tasks will be set in line with current learning throughout each term using the SMHW platform.
- Parents will be offered extended parents evening times to accommodate fuller discussions regarding academic, social and emotional progress.
